It is white to light yellow resin-like powders. It features low volatility, good flame retardancy, excellent electrical insulation and low cost. It is insoluble in water but soluble in most organic solvents.

It is mainly used as an additive flame retardant, and is also used as a plasticizer and functional additive in many industrial fields:
Flame retardant for plastics and rubber: It is widely used in polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polystyrene and other resins, as well as various rubber products, and is often mixed with antimony trioxide to improve flame retardant effect.
Coatings and inks: Used to prepare fire-resistant paint and fire-resistant coatings, improving the flame resistance of the coating.
Other fields: It can also be used as waterproof and flame retardant auxiliary for fabrics, wood antisepsis and moth prevention, paper industry sizing, extreme pressure antiwear additive for lubricating oil, and additive for adhesives, building materials and electronic and electrical products.
